Carbon Care Asia Limited gave an award to iclub Wan Chai Hotel, the first Carbon Neutral hotel in Hong Kong for its 4th consecutive CarbonCare Champion Label.

For the 4th consecutive year, iclub Wan Chai Hotel, the first Carbon Neutral hotel in Hong Kong received the CarbonCare Champion Label from Carbon Care Asia Limited.

The CarbonCare Labeling Scheme encourages and recognizes the efforts of organizations, entities and groups in tackling climate change in 3 steps which are Measuring, Reducing and Offsetting carbon footprints. iclub Wan Chai Hotel has achieved the highest level of CarbonCare Label which means 100% reduction, awarded for carbon neutrality status.

iclub hotels' continuous effort in carbon neutral management has been reflected positively on the hotel's environment and comments from the hotel's stakeholders. To be in line with the brand 's green concept, all iclub hotels will be working towards this same direction and aim to achieving Bronze Certification of Earthcheck in 2015. "This is going to be a big challenge for us, while we continue to work on hotel's carbon management ,and at the same time to achieve Earthcheck certificate; this goal requires concerted effort of all iclub Hotels associates" said Ms Winnie Woo, Hotel Manager of iclub Hotels.

iclub Wan Chai Hotel's Carbon Neutral Program

iclub Wan Chai Hotel's Carbon Neutral Program is undertaken with the technical support and advisory services from Carbon Care Asia Limited. Measuring for the Carbon Neutral Program taken in the Hotel include calculating its carbon footprint according to global standards of ISO 14064 and GHG Protocol and reduce and offset its carbon emissions from the Hotel's use of electricity, gas, and water.

The offsets are from the Sichuan NW Afforestation and Reforestation Project which has been certified in 2009 under the United Nations Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), Executive Board and the Board of Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standard (CCB).
