Given commercial returns, Walt Disney Co said they wouldn’t build more than two theme parks in one country, when contacted by the Chongqing Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Commission (COFTEC) for confirmation.

There are already one theme park in Shanghai and another one in Hong Kong, Disney won’t consider open a third one in China.

COFTEC said its earlier statement, which said it has been paying close attention to the Disney's project, was merely answer to citizens’ inquiry and a demonstration of the city’s positive attitude toward the matter.

There has recently been speculation on Disney opening a second theme park in the Chinese mainland. Some media suggested that Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan Province, might be a proposed location.

Currently, Disney runs three theme parks in Asia Pacific: in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
