Airbus books USD16.2 billion in commercial aircraft orders in April

The tally included the largest commercial aircraft order of the year to date (for either Airbus or Boeing): an order for 20 A350-900 XWBs from China Eastern Airlines, valued at US$6.1 billion at list prices.

Year-to-date, Airbus' gross commercial aircraft order total stands at 112 aircraft, valued at US$22.2 billion at list prices. Boeing's gross commercial aircraft order total year-to-date stands at 150 aircraft, with a list price value of US$20.24 billion.

Airbus delivered 52 commercial aircraft to 28 airlines and four lessors in April. Singapore-based lessor BOC Aviation took the most Airbus deliveries for the month with four A320ceos -- one each bound for Beijing Capital Airlines and Japanese low-cost carrier (LCC) Vanilla Air and two for Hong Kong Airlines -- plus one A321ceo bound for Taiwan's EVA Air.

Airbus' April deliveries included three aircraft each to China Southern Airlines (two A320ceos and an A330-300), Delta Air Lines (two A321ceos and an A330-300), Turkish Airlines (an A321ceo, an A330-300 and an A330-200 freighter) and Barcelona-based LCC Vueling (all A320ceos).

Year-to-date, Airbus has delivered 177 commercial aircraft. Boeing has delivered 224 commercial aircraft as of April 30.
