Revolving Lantern @Nanjing

A special invention of the Han nation, revolving lantern is said to be invented by a Nanjingese. With a candle inside the lantern, the heated air pushes forward the rotation of the paper cover, on which draws patterns of running horses.

Shadow Play @Nanjing

As early as in Qing Dynasty, shadow play has been popular in the area of the Nanjing Confucius Temple. The play is regarded as the comprehensive folk art, and was listed as the Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Nanjing Government in 2008.
