Angel investors who had earlier invested in the company including Paul Dubrule, Accor Group co-founder and American Express Travel former president Charles Petruccelli also contributed to this latest round.

According to a statement Dayuse will use the funds to expand the team, sustain growth in its existing countries and grow internationally.

The company, which was launched in late 2010, offers hotel rooms during the daytime when they might otherwise go unused.

Dayuse says 320,000 reservations have been made on its platform since launch with 50% of sales from international markets.

The company says it raised seed funding in 2015 which helped open subsidiaries in the US and Brazil while with the new funds the plan is to open it up to Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, Australia and Argentina.

Dayuse chief executive David Lebee says:

“This hyper-growth phase is part of a controlled development plan that involves hiring new talents and expanding to new territories. The goal is to institutionalize Dayuse.com at an international level with the support of our partners.”
