China and Britain will begin issuing multiple-entry visitor visas with two year validity to eligible applicants in both countries from January 11. This is the implementation of the reciprocal agreement between the two countries that was sealed during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Britain in October 2015.

Both sides will also offer multiple-entry visas of five-year and ten-year validity in due course.

The visa measures are outlined in the “China-UK Joint Declaration on Building a Global Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the 21st Century”. It is part of a pledge between both sides to usher in a “Golden Age” for Sino-British relations through ongoing collaboration, openness and mutual beneficial relations. The plan will facilitate personnel exchanges, bilateral exchange and cooperation between the two countries.(Translation by David)
