The deal announced today for the 20-year-old-company has no terms attached. Amadeus is gradually building an array of services through various acquisitions as it bids to create serve hotels and other accommodation providers with a portfolio of software products. These cover central reservations systems, property management systems and revenue management systems, plus sales and catering tools. Eventually, Amadeus says its “vision” for the cloud-based suite of services will allow property owners to have a “single view of the guest” from a sales, management and customer perspective. InterContinental Hotels Group was named as the first major partner for Amadeus in May. Coincidentally (or perhaps not), Itesso’s biggest partner for its Brilliant PMPRO platform is IHG. Amadeus senior vice president of new business, Paco Perez-Lozao, says: “Property management technology is a critical component of our strategy and we assessed numerous options to extend our capabilities in this area.” Itsesso’s 100 employees, including its management team, will move to Amadeus as part of the deal. Managing director Bas Blommaart says: “Integrating the Itesso ELS as a key module of Amadeus’s cloud-based platform for the hotel industry opens up a whole new spectrum of possibilities for our Amadeus’s acquisition spree began in December 2013 when it splashed out $500 million on Newmarket International, the US-based groups and event technology provider. Itesso claims to have 1,800 properties worldwide on its portfolio. |
