Once again, we've scoured the globe internet to bring together the The Master List of Worldwide Hotel Openings for the new year. But this year, we've did our best to cut down the list. It's kind of like Hunger Games for hotel openings. Here's why:

For those of you who have been reading this list for the past couple of years, you already know that hotel development is on fire in China and India. Big hotel companies (who shall remain nameless but the top offender rhymes with hard wood) have been going crazy in China, India and other parts of Asia for a while now. That still holds true for this year, although we feel like it's tapered off slightly.

Still, we decided to skip listing every Sheraton mid-range hotel that's opening in China or India and stick to the big city or big name openings. We've also taken this approach for other areas, including the U.S.

But we promise, if you scroll below, your eyes won't know the difference. This master list is still a beast. And we will be adding to it in the next couple of days and weeks. Also, don't forget that each month we do a Hotels Opening This Month feature where we sum up the newest hotels of the world.

On that note, we were pleasantly surprised to see a resurgence in Europe with quite a few hotels opening in England and Amsterdam but also in Italy. 2015 is also going to be a HUGE year for Dubai with three top luxury hotels opening there. In good old America, New York, Miami, and Chicago remain busy but we were surprised by a comeback from Boston and the South.

In short, it's going to be a good year but (and we know we say this every year) wait for 2016. That is going to be out of control.
