Chinese developer Greenland Holding Group is making its first foray into Canada, announcing plans Friday for a Primus-branded boutique hotel and a theater museum at a downtown Toronto residential complex. Breaking ground this month and slated for completion in 2018, the 48- and 44-story towers will include a seven-floor, 122-room Primus hotel, the chain’s first location in Canada. With a portfolio of more than 70 luxury hotels globally, Greenland Group (Canada) hotel in Toronto will feature numerous oversized luxury suites and on-site conference facilities as well as a rooftop terrace with pool and lounge. The luxury hotel will be fully owned and operated by Greenland Group (Canada) and will employ approximately 120 permanent staff. B+H Architect’s hospitality design team, CHIL by B+H, will execute designs for the hotel. The Shanghai-based company also will add a museum dedicated to Canada’s theater culture at the site, located on a strip lined with restaurants and theaters. The global Fortune 500 conglomerate is building four of the 10 tallest buildings in the world, with 23 ultra-high-rise buildings currently built or in construction in its international portfolio, including North American projects in downtown Los Angeles and Brooklyn, New York. |
