Marriott Moves into Macau as Galaxy Grows

New JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels open in Macau as part of the expansion of the Galaxy Macau integrated resort.

Marriott International has launched its first two hotels in Macau, as part of the expansion of the Galaxy Macau integrated resort.

The new Ritz-Carlton Macau is an all-suite hotel with 250 luxury rooms, while the JW Marriott Macau becomes the brand’s largest property in Asia, with more than 1,000 rooms.

A third new property, the Broadway Hotel, adds another 320 rooms to the Galaxy Macau complex, taking its total accommodation collection to six hotels comprising more than 3,800 rooms and suites.

“Marriott International sees unlimited potential in the future of Macau,” said Henry Lee, the hotel group’s chief operations officer for Greater China. “The launch of JW Marriott Hotel Macau and the Ritz-Carlton Macau with Galaxy Macau are long-term investments that will perfectly complement Macau’s evolving tourist landscape.

Galaxy Macau’s 75,000m² Grand Resort Deck

“The region has undoubtedly changed significantly in recent years and we are seeing the city transform from a gaming destination to one with a more diverse range of entertainment and recreation options for guests of all ages,” he added.

JW Marriott Macau will become the brand’s flagship hotel in Asia. In addition to its 1,015 rooms and suites, the property features four restaurants, the world’s largest JW Kids Club, swimming pools and 2,700m² of meeting space. It will also offer access to Galaxy Macau’s 75,000m² Grand Resort Deck, which is home to the world’s largest rooftop wave pool, 575 metres of rapids and a 350-tonne sandy beach.

The Ritz-Carlton Macau meanwhile, will feature a Cantonese fine dining restaurant, a lounge, spa, swimming pool with pool bar and 900m² of event space.

In addition to the new hotels, the latest phase of the Galaxy Macau includes the new Broadway Macau area. This street-style entertainment district will play host to live entertainers and street-style vendors, plus 40 F&B outlets, 20 retail stores and the new 3,000-seat Broadway Theatre.
