Recently，Hilton Worldwide announced the promotion of Jochem-Jan Sleiffer to area vice president, Northern & Central Europe.
January9th， 2013，Hilton Worldwide announced the promotion of Jochem-Jan Sleiffer to area vice president, Northern & Central Europe. With a career history spanning more than 20 years at the company, most recently as country general manager for France, Sleiffer will now gain responsibility for the operation of the company’s owned, managed and leased hotels within Northern & Central Europe. Sleiffer will oversee more than 20 hotels across five countries including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark and Sweden. With a strong multi-brand proposition, Northern & Central Europe has four Hilton Worldwide brands in operation - the flagship, upscale Hilton Hotels & Resorts along with focused service Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton by Hilton. The highly-anticipated, recently-opened Waldorf Astoria Berlin is the first of Hilton Worldwide’s luxury brands to enter the region. In his new role, Sleiffer will also join the European Executive Committee for Hilton Worldwide and report directly to Simon Vincent, President, EMEA, Hilton Worldwide. He will be based at Hilton Worldwide’s Northern & Central regional office located in Frankfurt. Simon Vincent, president, EMEA, Hilton Worldwide, said, “Jochem-Jan is a highly experienced and talented hotelier and we’re delighted to be promoting him further through the ranks. His track record of delivering success in a number of diverse international markets leaves him ideally placed to progress to regional leadership. Our business is performing strongly in Northern & Central Europe and I have every confidence that Jochem-Jan is the right man to drive the region forward.” Having begun his career as a steward at Hilton Amsterdam in 1990, Sleiffer has since gone on to manage 14 hotels during 22 years of distinguished service with Hilton Worldwide. During this time he has also garnered significant international experience, taking on roles in France, Belgium, Greece and the UK as well as his native The Netherlands. His most recent role saw him in charge of Hilton Worldwide’s seven-strong French portfolio. Sleiffer said of his appointment, “Northern & Central Europe boasts a string of landmark properties and now carries four of the six brands we operate in Europe. I am thrilled to begin this new role and the challenge of building on what is already a strong performing estate of hotels and a burgeoning development pipeline. Having recently opened Waldorf Astoria Berlin, which launched our luxury offering to the region, it is a particularly exciting point at which to be taking the reins.” With more than 240 hotels in Europe, Hilton Worldwide’s industry-leading development pipeline currently stands at more than 120 hotels across the continent. The Northern & Central Europe region’s latest opening was Hilton Garden Inn Davos, located opposite the venue which hosts the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum. Sleiffer is currently studying for a Masters degree in Hospitality and Tourism Leadership at the University of Strathclyde. |
