IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) has announced its new Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) operations leadership structure.

　　IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) has announced its new Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) operations leadership structure.

　　Within these changes Mr. Fergus Stewart, Regional General Manager Vietnam & Cambodia is promoted to Director of Operations, Thailand & Indochina.

　　Originally from Scotland, Fergus obtained the UK Diploma in Hotel Catering and Institutional Operations as well as the Cornell Executive Program in Hospitality Management through the National University of Singapore.

　　“This is a very exciting time for IHG particularly in this region where we have great hotels across all our brands in addition to the opening of several new properties in the next 12 months. I am looking forward to working with our hotel owners in achieving our mutual goals and I look forward to supporting our associates in giving our guests truly wonderful experiences” said Fergus.

　　Fergus joined Intercontinental Hotel Group in March 2008 as General Manager of the ANA InterContinental Tokyo. He was promoted to Regional General Manager in November 2010 overseeing the Greater Tokyo area covering the Strings Hotel in Tokyo, InterContinental Yokohama Grand, InterContinental Tokyo Bay, and Crowne Plaza Narita.

　　Fergus’s strong leadership during his tenure in Japan brought him the “InterContinental General Manager of the year 2010” award for the Asia Australasia region. In February 2012, he was promoted to Regional General Manager for Vietnam and Cambodia where he oversaw 7 IHG-branded hotels with several others under development. Fergus will continue to successfully help develop the IHG brand in Thailand and Indochina whilst overseeing the award winning Intercontinental Asiana Saigon.

　　Fergus trained at the Central Hotel Glasgow and started his career at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Other than time at the Landmark London, he has spent almost 22 years working extensively overseas in 10 different countries namely China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Spain, Egypt, Thailand and Japan. Prior to joining IHG Fergus’s extensive operational experience in these countries was gained mainly from working with the Shangri-la and Hyatt organizations across a variety of functions.

　　Based in Ho Chi Minh City he will assume full operational responsibility for current hotels in addition to over seeing the opening of several new properties.
