Hyatt has announced plans to launch its first hotel in Uzbekistan. A management agreement signed earlier this month will see the launch of a new Hyatt Regency hotel in Uzbekistan’s capital, Tashkent. Scheduled to open in January 2015, the Hyatt Regency Tashkent will offer 300 rooms and suites, two restaurants, a bar, spa, fitness centre, and more than 1,200m² of meeting space. The property will be located next to the National Library on Tashkent’s main thoroughfare, Navoi Street. “We are delighted by the plans for the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Uzbekistan,” said Peter Norman, Hyatt Hotel’ senior vice president of real estate and development for the EMEA region. “The CIS is establishing itself as both an international business hub and an attractive tourist destination, and we believe the Hyatt Regency brand and the enviable cosmopolitan location will attract international travellers visiting Tashkent. Today’s announcement demonstrates our commitment to growing our brand presence in new markets.” The new hotel will expand Hyatt’s presence in Central Asia, where it already operates properties in Bishkek and Dushanbe, the capitals of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. |
