The ocean liner Queen Elizabeth 2, currently docked in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and planned to be converted into a 400-room floating hotel, will set sail for China in October where its renovation work will continue. While the vessel is still owned by Istithmar World, an entity of the state-owned Dubai World, QE2 Shipping, a consortium of local and foreign investors will be involved in the project’s operations. After undergoing US$90 million in renovations, QE2 Shipping told Bloomberg that the floating hotel will open in 2014. Whether China will end up as the floating hotel’s final destination was not disclosed. |
