Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. has added the Palacio del Inka in Cusco, Peru to its Luxury Collection following an extensive renovation. The building dates to the early 15th century and has a Spanish Colonial façade; the conquistadors inhabited the building in the 16th century. The Latin American firm Caparra Entelman & Asociados led the two-year renovation project for owners Libertador Hotels, Resorts & Spas. Palacio del Inka's 203 guestrooms include 17 Casa de los Cuatro Bustos Suites. Guest accommodations' décor draws on Peru's colonial past, with high ceilings and custom-designed carved wooden doors, chess and writing desks.
The spa uses grained tornillo woods varnished in dark green for a furniture, similar to traditional furnishings in Cusco homes. The spa also includes local Travertine Angelica marble and gold patina doors. Palacio del Inka, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Cusco also offers five event spaces that can seat up to 400 guests. Local artisans worked to restore the original ceilings in the event spaces. |
