The Mira Hong Kong will offer Handy smartphones in all guest rooms by 1 August 2013. New 'Handy' devices offer unlimited calls and internet use.

　　Hong Kong hotel The Mira is now offering a free smartphone to all guests.

　　The new ‘Handy’ system is a complimentary mobile device equipped with 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, offering guests free internet use plus unlimited international and local calls during their stay.

　　The new smartphones will be rolled out to all 492 rooms by 1 August 2013, as an extension of the hotel’s ‘My Mobile’ solution that has offered mobile phones with complimentary calls to all guests since the hotel opened in 2009.

　　The new Handy smartphones also offer this, plus data connectivity, room-to-room dialling, concierge services and a selection of pre-loaded apps including a currency converter, MTR maps and social media applications. The device also features a digital city guide.

　　“We are excited to… give [guests] the freedom to stay connected at all times, anywhere in Hong Kong, with the latest technologies,” said Gerhard Aicher, GM of The Mira Hong Kong. “We are confident that this service alone… will reshape the accommodation choices of business travellers, large corporate accounts, and tech-savvy tourists visiting the city.”

　　The hotel also noted that all guest history will be deleted from the smartphones after check-out.
