The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), penned with the Hainan Tourism Development Commission and HNA Hotel Group, is aimed at driving the vacation rental market in Hainan.

　　Wyndham’s vacation rental arm, RCI, has signed a new agreement that will enhance its presence on the Chinese resort island in Hainan.

　　The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), penned with the Hainan Tourism Development Commission and HNA Hotel Group, is aimed at driving the vacation rental market in Hainan, thus diversifying the island’s range of tourism offerings and boosting its average length-of-stay.

　　“This MoU has a strategic importance for the future of the vacation ownership industry in Hainan and China, and we believe that this is the right time to strengthen the foundation for vacation ownership in China,” said Adrian Lee, managing director of RCI Asia.

　　“RCI is committed to working with government organisations and industry players to contribute to the sustainable growth of the industry, particularly in setting up a robust regulatory environment, creating appropriate industry and business models, educating the public on the product and implementing suitable consumer safeguards in Hainan.”

　　Wang Yuzheng, deputy director general of the Hainan Tourism Development Commission, said he expects the MoU to “contribute to the development of Hainan international tourism island”.

　　RCI will now promote Hainan as a tourist destination through its network of 3.7 million members worldwide, in an effort to attract more international and domestic tourists to the island.
