Thanks to integration with TripAdvisor and Booking.com.,Apple Maps adds new hotel review sources. Apple Maps recently rolled out a new feature: Hotel reviews right inside of Apple Maps, thanks to integration with TripAdvisor and Booking.com. Previously, a user could search for a hotel in Apple Maps and would be able to view photos and reviews pulled in from Yelp. Now, especially with TripAdvisor support, users will see plenty of content used for hotels. The new review sources appear to be both for US and international locations, though predominantly outside the U.S., reports Search Engine Land. The new review sources show up in mobile results and on the desktop version of Apple Maps. Booking.com is being used for hotel reviews in most cases while TripAdvisor is used for restaurants. It is not yet known how Apple plans to incorporate the new services, or to what extent, though it appears that data from TripAdvisor and Booking.com are currently supplementing, not replacing, Yelp information, AppleInsider reports. For example, conducting a search for "Hotels" in the area surrounding Monmouth Junction returns a list of establishments from Yelp's database, while a pointed query for "Days Inn" brings back a list supplied by TripAdvisor. |
