Travel app Umetrip, which was previously suspended by some airlines from carrying out online check-in due to risks of leaking passenger privacy, is again reportedly caught up in information leaks over new features it tests.

Some netizens recently discovered that Umetrip mobile app, released by TravelSky Technology, has quietly rolled out the “virtual cabin” function. When selecting a seat via the app, you can view the fellow air passenger’s personal information by clicking on the seat icon and chat with the passenger privately, Yangcheng Evening News reported.

Central enterprises under State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, namely China TravelSky Holding, China National Aviation Holding, China Southern Air Holding and China Eastern Air Holding, hold a combined 61.6% stake in the operating company of Umetrip.
